THE CRISIS & RECOVERY MYTH
We're taught to think about resilience like it's a movie. You face a challenge, overcome it, everyone's happy, roll credits. But life doesn't work that way. The challenges never stop coming. In fact, they get bigger, more complex, and sometimes they hit all at once.
Today, most people are caught in this cycle of "chronic resilience," bouncing from one crisis to the next without every truly recovering.
This out-dated model of crisis-and-recovery isn't enough anymore. We need a new approach to resilience, one that's sustainable, builds strength over time, and transforms our relationship with challenge itself. Because resilience isn't a destination, it's a practice.
Welcome to sustainable resilience.

I'm Jacquelyn, but you can call me Jacque...
Fire is a mysterious thing. It can warm or consume, create or destroy. The same flame that threatens to overwhelm us can become the fuel that propels us forward.
Most people today find themselves caught in an exhausting cycle of crisis and recover. They push through one challenge only to face another, each one burning hotter than the last. Eventually, even the strongest begin to feel consumed by the constant heat of demands, changes, and pressures.
But what if we've been thinking about resilience all wrong? I got a tattoo of a dragon on my shoulder when I was 20 years old. Little did I know that years later I would become a gold medalist dragon boat paddler after a battle with breast cancer. Throughout history dragons have symbolized the mastery of fire, not the fear of it. What if, instead of fighting these fires, we could forge them into a catalyst for growth?
We can.
That's why I help leaders and their teams, women's groups, and cancer survivors develop a different relationship with challenge. Because to be truly resilient you need to do more than survive the flames, you must learn to turn today's fires into tomorrow's fuel.
